Carson Host Lions Annual Crab Feed

Purchase your tickets now for the Carson Host Lions Annual Crab feed, 6 p.m., Friday, March 13, Fuji Park Exhibit Hall. St. Teresa's Catholic Community raises awareness of world hunger

"Twenty-four Hours that Last a Lifetime" is the theme for St. Teresa's youth this Friday and Saturday. Many students will be participating in a 24-hour food fast to raise awareness of world hunger and to raise money and food for Friends in Service Helping in Carson City and for Catholic Relief Services worldwide. Teens and adults from St. Teresa's Catholic Community will be collecting donations door-to-door, Saturday, March 14 asking for non-perishable food as they participate in the "Scavenger Hunt for FISH." Canned food, diapers, toiletries, etc. are all appreciated. For information, call 882-2079.

Volunteer for ESL In-Home program

The ESL in-Home Program is seeking volunteers. Training takes one hour at your convenience at no charge. All necessary instructional materials are provided. No experience is necessary. There are more than 100 non-English speaking potential students on a waiting list who live in Carson City, Gardnerville, Minden, Reno, Sparks and Dayton. It is not required to have a knowledge of a foreign language to teach English. Training in the Laubach method takes one hour at no charge. For information, call 882-2021.

Farmers Market seeks vendors

The Gardnerville Farmers Market seeks vendors for the Wednesday morning market. Food related items, outdoor art, "green" and health product vendors are welcome. The Farmers Market will start 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesday, June 3 and run through Wednesday, Sept. 16 in Lampe Park. For information, call 782-9828.
