Carson Valley girl's family says 'thanks'

Though Carson Valley is my home, I am currently in Houston with my daughter Bailey, who is being treated for bone cancer in her right leg at the MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Recently, Kathy and Mark Goforth of the P.O.B.O.B Motorcycle Club of Northern California set up a fundraiser to offset some of our medical expenses. Along with Hooligan's Ink and Finx Gourmet Hot Dogs, these folks made this all happen, along with all of the wonderful people who showed up for the event and donated both time and money.

Bailey is winning the fight and will return soon to tell the story.

University women appreciate support

The American Association of University Women Capital Branch wishes to thank the community for its support of the recent 10th annual Feast of Chocolate.

Specifically the Carson Nugget, the Chocolate Nugget Factory, Grandma Hattie's, Madeleine's Cookies, Russell's Mercantile, Sugarplum Bakery and Treats, and Trader Joe's for donations, and harpist Wanda Perschnick for the music.

Money raised will provide scholarships to women in Carson City.

Sincerely,

Lin Nary, secretary
