Carson City Health Inspections 5/6

Carson City Health Department's food-service inspections through April 20 (all scores are on a 100-point scale, with points deducted depending on the severity of violations):

- Bistro@Bryan, 901 S. Stewart St., restaurant, scored 99 points. Eggs and other food were found stored in containers or wrapped without labels showing the date and name.

- Leonardos Catering, 3429 S. Carson Street No. 52, mobile food vehicle, scored 94 points. No water available to wash dishes. An accurate metal stem thermometer was not available to check food temperatures. No water available to sanitize surfaces.

- 4 Pints Tavern & Grill, 3198 N. Deer Run Road, restaurant, scored 95 points. Food is stored in reach-in and walk-in refrigerators which are not labeled with the name and date. A supply of soap and paper towels were not present at the kitchen hand wash sink. No certified food handler was present during the time of this inspection.

- BPO Elks Lodge No. 2177, 515 N. Nevada Street, food facility fee exempt, bar, scored 100 points. Establishment is clean and well maintained.

- Novedades Gutierrez, 1501 E. Fifth Street No. 102, convenience store, scored 100 points.

- Carson Aerie No. 1006, 1380 E. Fifth Street, food facility fee exempt, scored 100 points.

- Carson Aerie No. 1006, 1380 E. Fifth Street, food facility fee exempt, bar, scored 100 points.

- Edmonds Park, 1555 Bennett Avenue, food facility fee exempt, scored 99 points. An accurate metal stem thermometer was not available to check food temperatures.

- Seven Eleven No. 2236-32303A, 3838 E. Highway 50, convenience store, scored 96 points. The hand washing sink in the dish washing room was used for purposes other than hand washing. The hand washing sink at the hot dog counter did not have a supply of soap. There was no certified food handler present at the time of this inspection.

- Dotty's No. 10, 2260 E. Highway 50, bar/lounge, scored 100 points.

- Rand Avenue Convenience Store, 1800 E. Highway 50 No. 14, convenience store, scored 100 points.

- Panaderia Azteca Bakery, 3189 E. Highway 50, bakery, scored 94 points. Improper procedures are used when washing items/utensils in the three compartment sink. Food removed from original container is not stored in a sanitary manner. The bulk flour and sugar bins were not covered.

- Panderia Azteca Bakery, 3189 E. Highway 50, take out, scored 92 points. Cooked pork was found in a plastic uncovered container at 90F on the counter top. It was there for at least several hours. An accurate metal stem thermometer was not available to check food temperatures. There was no certified food handler present at the time of this inspection. NRS 202.2483 smoking tobacco: Prohibited in certain areas, voluntary creation of nonsmoking areas; local regulation; posting signs; removal of paraphernalia; enforcement; retaliation prohibited.

- Mo & Sluggo's Bar & Grill, 110 W. Telegraph Street, bar/lounge, scored 96 points. The hand washing sink in the women's restroom was not draining properly. Garbage/refus containers located in the back room are full and are not kept covered.

- Kabayan Multi-Mart, 321 Fairview Drive, retail grocery, scored 100 points.

- Dutch Bros. Coffee, 1449 S. Carson Street, take out coffee house/drive through, scored 96 points. An accurate metal stem thermometer provided to check food temperatures was not working. There were no working thermometers in the three refrigerators. Found the ice machine cover was missing, exposing the ice to possible contamination.

- McDonalds No. 2282, 2001 N. Carson Street, restaurant, scored 91 points. Improper procedures are used when washing items/utensils in the three compartment sink. The Three compartment sink is not properly set-up. Poisonous or toxic materials are not properly stored. Found open packet of chlorine concentrate (dry powder) laying on clean spatula on drain board of three compartment sink. Found chemical spray bottles hanging over clean dishes at the three compartment sink.

- City Cafe Bakery, 701 S. Carson Street, No. 1, bakery, scored 100 points. Establishment is clean and well maintained.

- City Cafe Bakery, 701 S. Carson Street, No. 1, restaurant, scored 100 points. Establishment is clean and well maintained.

- El Charro Avitia, 4389 S. Carson Street, scored 99 points. Found the fan grids in the walk-in cooler contained a build-up of dust and debris.

- Finucci's Grand Central Pizza & Pasta, 3965 S. Carson Street, restaurant, scored 97 points. Dairy and other foods were at 43F in the under-counter reach-in refrigerator and not at 40F or less. Non-food contact surfaces of the fan guards in various refrigerators were no clean.

- Finucci's Grand Central Pizza & Pasta, 3965 S. Carson Street, bar/lounge, scored 100 points. Establishment is clean and well maintained.

- McDonalds No. 4, 3344 N. Carson Street, restaurant, scored 92 points. Improper procedures are used when washing items/utensils in the three compartment sink. Found the three compartment sink improperly set-up and used. Thick food debris was found in the bottom of the sanitizing basin. There is no thermometer in the reach-in behind the front service counter. The cover is missing from the upper half of the main ice machine. There are leaks under the public soda dispensers (in the cabinets) located in the dining area.
