Joyce Sheldrew was born to Arnold and Anna Horgen in Skobey, Mon. Aug. 1, 1919. In her early twenties she left Montana and spent some time in Utah and Southern California before settling in Reno in 1948. While in Reno, she met her husband and had two children before settling in North Carson City where she spent the remainder of her life. Joyce worked as a bank teller at First Nevada Bank from 1965-1982, where she was known as the "Oldest living teller in the West". Joyce was also a co-founder of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Carson City. After being diagnosed with Macular Degeneration in the late 80's, she eventually lost her ability to see to hold your hand, but she never lost the ability to reach out and touch your heart.

She is preceded in death by her husband John (Jack) Sheldrew, her sisters Thelma Turnbull and Arlette McKinney, as well as her brother Arnold Horgen. She will be missed by all who ever had the pleasure to cross her path, especially her family. She is survived by her daughter Vicki Hass, and son Richard Sheldrew; grandchildren Lori and Lisa Hass, and Michael and Chad Sheldrew.

A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1480 Douglas Ave., Gardnerville. A reception will follow at Richard Sheldrew's home, 1736 Sunset Court, Gardnerville.

Please send donations in lieu of flowers to Bethlehem Lutheran Church School, 1837 Mountain Street, Carson City, or Nevada Talking Book Services, 100 North Stewart Street, Carson City.
