Jazz band to play at garden center

Carson High School Jazz Band performs, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, May 16 at the Greenhouse Garden Center, 2450 S. Curry St.

Garden center offers free workshops

The Greenhouse Garden Center at 2450 S. Curry St., offers free workshops at 9 a.m. on Saturdays.

Coming up today is "Shade Gardening In Northern Nevada" at 9 a.m.

Other May workshops are:

- May 16 " "Let's Talk Tomatoes and Peppers"

- May 23 " "Continuous Summer Color With Perennials."

May 30 " "Growing Grapes and Berries In Northern Nevada" at 9 a.m. and at 11 a.m. is "Container Planting With Janet."

Garden tour in May

The Carson CIty Historical Society presents "Through the Garden Gate" Home/Garden Tour, noon-5 p.m., Sunday, May 31.

Several historic homes and gardens will be featured.

Tickets for the tour are $12 for adults; $10 for seniors and students; $6 for children 6-12; children five and under are free.

Tickets are available 11 a.m. on the day of the tour at the Greenhouse Garden Center, 2450 S. Curry, Roberts House Museum, 1207 N. Carson; the Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau, 1900 South Carson; and the Smail House (White Cat Antiques), 512 N. Curry.
