State officials say Nevada's unemployment rate rose 0.2 percent statewide in April, to 10.6 percent.
Carson City's rate fell from 11.3 percent to 10.8 percent.
Monthly figures released Friday by the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation put the state well above the national jobless rate of 8.9 percent in April.
The report tallied 146,300 Nevadans out of work statewide, for a rate almost double the seasonally adjusted rate of 5.8 percent in April 2008.
A month-to-month breakdown shows the unemployment rate last month remaining steady in the Las Vegas area, at 10.4 percent.
The rate dropped slightly in the Reno-Sparks area, to 11 percent from 11.2 percent in March.
