Busy time for Carson students as school year ends

Congratulations to Merrill Asp and Andrew Jones for winning the University of Nevada High School Prize awards for physics and chemistry, respectively. Their awards were given on May 18 at the University of Nevada.

A sports physical clinic will be conducted from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Morse Burley gym for CHS students wanting to participate in sports, including marching band. Athletes are required to have physicals every two years. The cost is $10. Athletic packets including the physical forms are available online at www.carson

high.com, under the "Activities" link.

Tryouts for varsity and junior varsity cheer will be held 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. You must attend all three days. Sports packets are available online or in the athletic office. Completed packets need to be turned in from 3-4 p.m. Thursday in the big gym before tryouts. Those interested in trying out must have a physical if they are an incoming freshman or a returning junior. They also must purchase a student body card for $25 on Thursday. Carson High Pro Start team won third in the nation at the National Restaurant Association Invitational in San Diego. The winning team consisted of Jonathan Kane, Brandon Gray, Tracy Morris and Brittany Shirey. They brought home more than $38,000 each in scholarship offers.

Carson High is extremely proud of all its Rotary Students of the Week for this school year. They are: Caitlin Faber, Anthony Pisani, Karissa Pulizzotto, Adam Updegrove, Alli Collier, Shannon Earwood, Sarah White, Robby Barlow, Callie Ward, Mo Cosio, Philip Wortman, Tatum Boehnke, Danielle Johnson, Alana Wilson, Katy Remer, Elivette Zambrano, Joe Johnson, Jeff Butler and Maggie Jesse. All of these students have shown quality and character that go above and beyond at Carson High. The teachers, staff and administration say a heartfelt "Thank you!" to each of these students.
