Have a great Memorial Day weekend. And remember those who are near and dear to you, especially our servicemen and women who gave their lives to insure we have the freedom's that we love. Thank you all.

The trains are running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nevada State Railroad Museum today and tomorrow, and the Warren Engine Company is probably selling their yummy hot dogs and hamburgers there. Also, the Indy 500 is running today. Betty Horton, Steve Sedillos and Nancy Gourley are celebrating birthdays, and Ashley Anderson and Christopher Van Zant are celebrating their wedding. Congratulations to all. M wants to thank the butcher, the baker, and the check out people (apparently they ran out of candlestick makers) at Raleys for being so nice the other day. Many thanks.

We just want you all to know that Jake Kerkla is "amazing" (we know that, because he told us so) ... he's also "cool and really neat" (and "don't mention my sister, Sarah" ... so we won't). If you missed "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," you missed a goody (the "livestock" were also amazing ... teehee). And Janet Heller's singing students' recital was a great opportunity for them to perform before an appreciative audience. Congratulations to Kent Steele ... he chaired the Children's Heart Foundation NDOT golf tournament honoring Dick Morris, and they're richer for that. And to Erin Been and the people who put on the benefit at the Straw Hat for the Nash family ... many kudos and thanks to you, too.

There are some neat things coming up in the next couple of weeks you might want to put on your calendars: "The Senior Follies: Putting on the Ritz," will take the stage at the Community Center at 7 p.m. May 29-30 and 2 p.m. May 31. Call 883-0703 for details. This is their 12th annual fundraiser for Meals on Wheels. Directed by Norma Conway, you will see your favorite seniors tripping the light fantastic and singing their little hearts out. And the Kit Carson Rendezvous will be coming to Mills Park on June 12-14. Always a good time. On June 5, Wild Horse Children's Theater will hold auditions for "A Year with Frog and Toad," for ages 5-14. Call 887-0438 for details and audition times.

Bill Saurer (782-0223) has a zillion cute cards with sayings on them; if you want some, give him a call. Here's one of them: "Kids in the back seat can cause accidents ... and accidents in the back seat can cause kids." Tch, tch, tch.

Elizabeth Edwards and Farrah Fawcett have both been in the news lately because of their bouts cancers. Please, PLEASE, make an appointment for a mammogram ASAP. It could save your life.

If you steal somebody's ID, you'd better check them out first. We heard a wonderful "just deserts" story from a judge, who, when hearing an ID theft complaint, asked the suspect, "Is your name Bob Smith?" (Note to readers: "Bob Smith" is a fake name, since we don't know the REAL names.) The suspect, in a very haughty tone, said, "Yes, that's my name."

Once again, the judge asked, "Are you sure you are Bob Smith?" And again, the suspect avers he is Bob Smith. For the third time, the judge asks, "Are you sure you are Bob Smith?" Again, the suspect replies, "Yes, I am that Bob Smith." "Well," says the judge, "Mr. Smith, we are also charging you for being an unregistered pedophile." "Your Honor, Sir, I'm not..." Case continued.

Have a wonderful weekend!
