Start holiday shopping at craft fair

The long hallway running through the college's Bristlecone Building will be transformed into a colorful bazaar for several hours Thursday, Nov. 5. Western's popular holiday craft fair will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Vendors will have quilts, kitchen towels, designer luggage tags, scarves, jewelry, hand-made greeting cards, pine cone baskets, paintings, bead work and more.

The popular annual event offers a great way to get a head start on holiday shopping. Proceeds fund professional development activities for the WNC Classified Employee Council. For information call Kathryn Clark Ross at 445-3260.

Latino information night set for Friday

Western Nevada College's series of outreach sessions for the Hispanic community continues at 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6 in Cedar Building Room 306 with a presentation on financial aid and the WNC nursing program. The programs are free and are designed to inform parents and high school students about college.

Information and assistance is available in Spanish. Contact Lupe Ramirez at 445-3344.

The college also offers the chance for Latino students with some knowledge of English to learn the basics of how to use a computer, navigate the Internet, and create an e-mail account. Several half-credit classes, including one that begins Saturday, are being offered with assistance in English and Spanish at a cost of $37.75 for Nevada residents.

To register, go to wnc.edu under the class schedule for Computer Applications CA 102B, C03, Introduction to Word Processing, which meets 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 and 14. For assistance with registration or additional information, contact Lupe Ramirez at 445-3344.

'Show Your Talent' next weekend

Enjoy a variety of dances and other entertainment at the Western Nevada College talent show 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 at Carson High School. Tickets will be available at the door: $4 for adults; $2 for students with WNC ID card and children under 12. Proceeds will provide college scholarships to Latino students.
