Nevada's history extends not only to silver and slot machines, but to baseball as well. Author Tim Mueller captures the history of baseball in the Silver State in his newly released book "Homeruns & Jackpots: Baseball in Nevada."

Mueller reveals the early beginnings of America's favorite pastime at a time where Reno takes another historic plunge with the launch of the Reno Aces franchise.

"It is a book for all Nevadans longing to understand how great an impact the state has had on baseball in America," Mueller said. "Players like Lyle Overbay, Matt Williams, Ray Fosse and Bud Beasley grace the pages of this book as they once did the baseball diamonds in Northern Nevada."

A book review was done by Ron Kantowski of the Las Vegas Sun, which can be read at www.lasvegas

A book signing for Mueller will be from 3:30-

6 p.m. Dec. 12 at Borders bookstore, 911 Topsy Lane, in north Douglas County.

Mueller has been a Nevada resident since 1975. He can be contacted at 721-3387 or by e-mail at tim_mueller@sbcglobal.net.
