Former State Sen. Joe Heck of Las Vegas has decided to pull out of the race for governor.

Instead, the Republican said he will seek the nomination for the congressional seat currently held by Democrat Dina Titus. Titus is halfway through her first two-year term in Congressional District 3.

Heck faced a tough Republican field for governor that includes incumbent Gov. Jim Gibbons, former U.S. District Judge Brian Sandoval and North Las Vegas Mayor Mike Montandon.

Clark County Commission Chairman Rory Reid is running for the Democratic nomination for governor, and does not currently have a primary opponent.
