The Nevada Army National Guard recently inducted Chief Warrant Officer 4 Fred Lanman of Carson City to its Hall of Fame at a ceremony at state headquarters in Carson City.

Also inducted were Col. Charles Grundy and Command Sgt. Maj. Lee Albin, both of Reno.

"These Hall of Fame inductees represent Nevada's leadership, a premiere fighting force of leaders that keep giving to the military and whose input is critical to the advancement of the Nevada National Guard," said Col. Michael Carlson, Nevada Army National Guard chief of staff.

Lanman joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 1955 in Reno. In 1960 he joined the 150th Services Battalion in Reno. Spending most of his career as an enlisted man, he would eventually retire as Chief Warrant Officer 2 in 1983.

Retiring with 29 years of service, Lanman now donates his time by caring for injured wildlife at the Dayton Valley Wildlife Infirmary.

The ceremony also honored guardsmen who have retired from military service since September 2008.
