An allegedly unlicensed and intoxicated driver was injured this morning in an accident on Snyder Avenue in front of the Carson Lanes.

Deputy Jarrod Adams said the 44-year-old man pulled out from the parking lot into the path of an eastbound Chevy pickup driven by a 20-year-old Carson City man.

The pickup driver said he tried to avoid hitting the Dodge Intrepid but was unable.

The truck T-boned the Intrepid in the driver's door.

The 44-year-old man was cut from the wreckage by Carson City firefighters, then taken by Care Flight to the trauma center in Reno with an obvious head injury.

He reportedly lost consciousness at some point, was alert and talking when police arrived.

Adams said while rescuers were dealing with the victim they could smell an odor of alcohol.

A blood draw to determine if the man was in fact drunk will be taken at the hospital.
