RENO (AP) - Ex-Nevada basketball player Gary Hill-Thomas is getting into the coaching business.
North Valleys High School has hired the former defensive standout to coach its boys basketball team. His wife, Rosana, is a track coach there.
Hill-Thomas played for the Wolf Pack from 2001-04. He then played three seasons in the NBA Developmental League, including this past season with the Reno Bighorns. He averaged 7.1 points and 2.4 rebounded as a pro, including 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds last year.
He inherits a Panther team that was 4-21 and 1-11 in the High Desert League last season. He said there's no secret they have a lot of work to do.
