Dayton Valley Sports Expo canceled

The Dayton Valley Sports Expo, scheduled for Sept. 17-20 has been canceled. The event was coordinated by the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, and was canceled due to lack of vendor participation. Expo questions should be directed to Susan Skaggs, executive director, at

Department of Wildlife changes hours at Carson DMV

With the boating season slowing, the Nevada Department of Wildlife's boat titling and registration services at the Carson City Department of Motor Vehicles has changed.

Services are now available on the first and third Wednesday of the month from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. The department's boat titling and registration service desk is located in the Carson City DMV building, 555 Wright Way.

For customers seeking information or assistance regarding licensing or boat registration and titling, contact the NDOW office in Fallon at 775-688-2881, ext. 222, or the NDOW office in Reno at 688-1500.

The NDOW's mission is to protect, restore and manage fish and wildlife, and promote fishing, hunting, and boating safety. Wildlife and habitat conservation efforts are primarily funded by sportsmen's license and conservation fees and a federal surcharge on hunting and fishing gear.

West Coast Swing dance lessons offered

High Sierra Swing Dance Club, as a co-production with Brewery Arts Center, presents a six-week series of dance lessons, Wednesdays starting Sept. 16 at the BAC Grand Ballroom,

449 W. King St., Carson City.

West Coast swing beginners and those with less than six months' dance experience meet from 6-7:30 p.m.; WCS style and play is from 7:30-9 p.m. No partner is necessary

Cost is $51.50 for one class and $91.50 for two classes, with a $5 discount for BAC members.
