Carson 4-Hers have strong showing at state fair

Several Carson City youth competed in the horsemanship competitions at the Nevada State Fair in Reno on Aug. 26-30.

Lindy and Brynn Lehman, 11 and 9, ride with the High Sierra Riders 4-H group from Washoe Valley.

Lindy, an intermediate

4-H rider, won the High-Point buckle for Gymkhana. She also showed in Western flat and pattern classes, Gymkhana Classes and in English flat classes on her horse Doc, a 20-year-old quarter horse.

Brynn showed in the fair's open horse show on her 10-year-old quarter horse pony cross, named Little Black.

Rachel Anderson also competed with the High Sierra Riders 4-H group.

Lauryn Bailey, 11, won first place and Grand Champion award for Junior Showmanship with her quarter horse Mistee as part of the High Sierra Riders.

The following competed from the Pinenut Riders 4-H Club in Carson City:

Avery Hudak, 14, riding Champ, placed in the Open Show in Showmanship, English Equitation and English Pleasure. She attends Carson High School.

Abby Williams, 14, riding Duke, placed in the Open Show in Hobby Horse, Showmanship and Costume Class. She attends Sierra Lutheran High School.

Lizzy Marshall, 10, riding Baby Buddy, received Junior Western High Point for the 4-H show and placed in the Open Show in Halter, Showmanship, Western Equitation and Western Pleasure. She is home schooled.

Julia Baker, 14, placed in the Open Show in Costume Class riding Cooper. She is home schooled.

Sarah Marshall, 14, placed in the 4-H Show in Showmanship, Western Equitation, Western Pleasure and Western Horsemanship and she participated in the Open Show riding Ima Zippin Zann Parr. She is home schooled and is Lizzy's sister.
