Carson City Health Department's food-service inspections for the week of Sept. 1-4 (all scores are on a 100-point scale, with points deducted depending on the severity of violations):

• Safeway #2247 Deli, 2035 N. Carson St., scored 95 points. Facilities for manual dishwashing are not properly designed, constructed, maintained, installed, located or operated. Cloths used on food-contact surfaces are not clean, do not contain sanitizer residual or are not used properly. At least one employee of this establishment must be a certified food handler. There is no certified staff on duty. Get sufficient staff certified so that at least one staff person is certified during all hours of operation.

• Safeway #2247 Retail Grocery, 2035 N. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Safeway #2247 Produce Department, 2035 N. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Safeway #2247 Meat Department, 2035 N. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Safeway #2247 Bakery, 2035 N. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Subway #10368 Restaurant, 100 W. Winnie Lane, scored 96 points. Food-contact surfaces are not smooth because of disrepair and crevices that are difficult to clean. Floors under the 3-C sink are not clean. "No Smoking" signs were not posted at the establishment entrance.

• Keva Juice Restaurant, 2320 S. Carson St. #2, scored 91 points. A customer's dog was observed in the establishment. The electrical outlet by the mop sink was broken exposing the wall interior. There was no certified food handler present at the time of this inspection. No "No Smoking" signs were posted at the entrance.

• Starbucks Coffee #9481 Restaurant, 2320 S. Carson St., scored 99 points. Cloths used on food-contact surfaces did not contain enough sanitizer residual.

• Charley's Grilled Subs Restaurant, 1304 S. Stewart St., scored 100 points.

• L&L Hawaiian Barbecue Restaurant, 1300 S. Stewart St., scored 98 points. Frozen pork product is being thawed in a manner that does not minimize microbial growth. Specifically, the pork was found in the food prep sink without running water.
