Carson High's golf team finished fifth at Tuesday's Sierra League tournament at the Fallon Golf Club.

Carson finished with a 432. Fallon won the event with a 389 followed by Bishop Manogue 394, Galena 422 and Douglas 429. Fallon's Matt Vanderbeek was the medalist with a 73.

Roman Smokey led Carson with an 83, while Garrett Gingell shot 5. Nico Brewer finished at 87, Colin McCulloch 88 and Mitch Parra 89.

"We played OK," Carson coach Terry Gingell said. "That course is different. It's pretty narrow in spots. The kids are used to play pretty wide-open courses You have to know it to play it well. Maybe we should have gone over there for a practice round."

The next event is scheduled for April 21 at Genoa Lakes.
