Empire Ranch hosting golf program

A year round Junior Golf Program at Empire Ranch Golf Course begins today. This extensive junior golf program covers all aspects of the game including ball striking, short game and on-course instruction. Class runs April-September and meets every Wednesday 3:30-5 p.m. Program is open to boys and girls of all skill levels ages 6-16. Jorgensen tops at Silver Oak

Paul Jorgensen fired a net 68 to win the first flight at the Silver Oak Monthly Masters event last Sunday.

Jim Gaughan and William Kapczynski tied for second with 71s while Bill Prowse and Randy Patterson tied for fourth with 72s.

Gary Poley won the second flight with a net 61, 10 shots better than Ray Plimpton. Ken Schneider and Robert Barkwill tied for third with 75s, while Dennis Joseph and Kevin Silsby tied for fifth with 77s.

Hole-in-one for Pizl

Allen Pizl of Gardnerville recorded his first career hole-in-one April 6 at Silver Oak Golf Club.

Pizl aced the 128-yard sixth hole using a 9-iron. He used a Maxfli Noodle. Witnessing the shot were Riley Pizl, Sig Hiederman and Jim Denny.

Twisted Stix takes Comstock lead

Twisted Stix moved past Scratch Masters into first place in the Comstock Division in the Carson City chapter of the American Poolplayers Association

Twisted Stix has 914 points compared to 909 for Role Models. Do Work is third at 898.

Kirsten Kehe of Twisted Stix leads the 4-5 tier with 37 points, seven ahead of Stacey Dauphine of rattlers and Daniel McRae of Cornbread and Whiskey. Don Allred of Scratch Masters leads the 6-9 tier with 26 points, while Frederick Osterhagen of Scratch Masters is second with 18 and Juan Pina of Twisted Stix is third with 15. Gloria Rodriguez is tops in the 1-3 tier with 30 points, six ahead of Phil O'Sullivan of Dean's Machine. James Panos of Scratch Masters and Santos Meza of Tommy's are tied for third with 22 points.

Role Models leads the Mosconi Division with 51 points, a scant three points ahead of Jerry's Kids. Twisted Attitudes is third at 47.

Casey Richards of Support Rackless habits leads the 4-5 tier with 40 points, 11 ahead of Austin Matthews of Jerry's Kids. Alex Gutierrez of Role Models leads the 6-7 tier with 45 points, just ahead of Pina who is at 42. Don Allred is third with 41. Jason Brendel of Twisted Attitudes leads the 2-3 tier with 29 points, while Timothy Kane of Rack Fink and Brandy Delaney of Cues Yer Daddy are tied for second at 22.
