Empire Ranch hosting golf and Super Bowl party

Empire Ranch is hosting a Super Bowl Shotgun Special Sunday morning at 10 a.m.

For $45, each golfer gets 18 hols of golf plus greens fees plus a party following the round of golf.

Food during the game includes hot wings, teriyaki chicken skewers, deli pinwheels, Philly rolls, cornbread, twice baked potatoes, chips, salsa and more. The party kicks off at 3 p.m., and the game can be seen on 10 flat screen television sets.

For non-golfers, the charge is $8 (all you can eat), $6 (kids and seniors), including non-alcoholic drinks, $8 all you can drink draft beer or $16 for all you can eat and drink.

The Eagle Valley Middle School eighth-grade volleyball team dropped two matches last week.

On Tuesday, Alder Creek topped EVMS 25-19 and 25-22. Malia Tiffer and Carly Bachmann led EVMS with nine and seven points respectively. Tiffer had two aces, while Jennifer Purcell and kaitlyn Jimmy added four points apiece.

On Thursday, EVMS dropped a three-set decision to Pau Wa Lu. Jimmy led the way with eight points, an ace and a kill. Megan Goodale added seven points and two kills. Tiffer had five points as did Bachmann.

Eagle Valley's seventh-grade volleyball squad won twice last week to run its record to 7-0.

Eagle Valley topped Alder Creek 25-10 and 25-19 and then topped Pau Wa Lu 25-6 and 25-17.

In the win over Alder Creek, Ali Barrette led the way with 10 points and one ace, while Bailie Zuber, Christa Young and Michelle Perry added six points apiece. Perry also added seven assists, three kills and an ace, while Young had three aces.

Against Pau Wa Lu, Young contributed 10 points, Natalie Young seven and Perry six. Young added three aces and a kill, while Perry had two aces and three kills. Abby Dudley contributed four points and two kills.

Two perfect games

at Gold Dust West

Don Simonian and Jim Follis rolled perfect games at Gold Dust West recently.

On Jan. 28 in the Thursday Men's Senior Trio, Simonian rolled a 300 en route to an 810 series, and on Feb. 1 Follis rolled a 300 game in the Monday Men's Senior Trio. Paul Brooks rolled a 279 on Feb. 1.

Jerry's Kids, Role Models and Trouble Makers are tied for first in Division 231 of the American Poolplayers Association.

All three teams have 13 points, one better than Big Dogs and Support Reckless Habits.

Jeremy Bennett leads the 4-5 tier with five points, one ahead of four other players. Richard Caudill of RaPats and John Schmitt Sr. of Harveys III are tied for first in the 6-7 tier with six points apiece, while there is an eight-way tie for first in the 2-3 tier.

Scratch Masters leads Comstock Division 63 with 303 points, seven ahead of Twisted Stix. Tommy's is third with 276.

Frederick Osterhagen leads the 4-5 tier with 18 points, while Kirsten Kehe of Twisted Stix is second with 15 and John Vecchiarelli of 9-Spoke is third with 12.
