130 YEARS AGO

Yesterday forenoon a man named Oliff Otto Fremont, one of Carson's well-known characters, was found dead in an outhouse back of the Muller Hotel. Mr. Brule represented Fremont as being sober when he went to retire for the night, which was unusual for a man of notoriously dissipated habits. Coroner Foster held an inquest and attributed the cause of death to the bursting of a blood vessel of the brain. He was a good natured sort of fellow, of no particular good to himself or to the world generally, and was harmless even in his cups.

100 YEARS AGO

At the MacDonald Theater tonight: His Lucy Day, Cupids Four Darts, Rapids and Falls at Tanford, Sweden, Modern Algeria, The Dog Detective, and Sky Light Seat at the Theater. Mr. Howard will sing the illustrated song: "Excuse me, Teacher."

A clown with the Moscow Circus disappeared after the show closed here this weekend. The case has been turned over to police.

The Carson Treatment Center will receive a $27,500 grant from the Smallwood Foundation to help fund a social worker who helps clients get work after they leave the center.
