Bismarck: A Parisian who owns a fine dog named Bismarck has been warned by the German embassy that he cannot have the name on the dog's collar and must stop calling the animal by it ... the name is the sole property of the mighty Chancellor - not to be debased in any way.

Signal Service (weather notification system) has been supplied with a new flag - one with white field with black square in the center. It is known as the "last resort signal" and indicates that it may rain or shine, blow or freeze, hail or snow. For instance, if it rains in the morning the flag has done its duty and if it shines in the afternoon that also is correct.
