A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction for the illegal killing of three deer west of Carson City in February.

According to the Nevada Division of Wildlife, two does - one pregnant with twins - and a buck were found shot and gutted in Voltaire Canyon. The two near-term fawns were found discarded near the gut pile.

Investigators say evidence suggests the three animals were shot by the same group.

"This callous poaching demonstrates the disregard some individuals have for wildlife," Beverlee McGrath, Nevada state director for The Human Society of the United States, said in a press release.

The reward is being offered by the Humane Society of the United States and The Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust

The poachers face felony charges of illegal killing of big game and gross misdemeanor charges of wanton waste. The potential penalties include thousands of dollars in fines, jail time and hunting license revocation.
