After a fire destroyed their businesses on March 29, the owners of Mattress King and High Desert Hair say they plan to return in about two months when the building is rebuilt.
For now, they are just trying to get by.
The hair stylists found a temporary refuge inside Mane Connections, a salon at 2061 California St., after owner Bob Malsbury offered the space, said Linda Beaty, co-owner of High Desert Hair.
"At least we're still in business," Beaty said. "We're just not in our planned business place."
Cory Crawford, who co-owns Mattress King with Mark Dawkins, said his business will be on a hiatus until the building and his inventory can be built back up.
"We have no business to relocate because everything got destroyed in the fire," Crawford said. "We will be back."
The fire started in the attic of the building on the corner of Fairview Drive and Idaho Street. Fire Chief Stacey Giomi estimated the damage at $250,000 to $500,000.
