Man arrested in police pursuit

A police pursuit Tuesday afternoon ended when the suspect's SUV and a patrol car collided on Deer Run Road.

Deputy Sal Acosta said he was on his motorcycle at Roop and Long streets when two westbound cars ran a stop sign. When he signaled them to pull over, the driver of a Toyota 4-Runner fled north on Stewart Street and wound through residential streets.

On Deer Run Road, the driver tried to drive off-road up a dirt trail, said Deputy Jimmy Surratt.

Surratt struck the rear of the Toyota, sending it spinning and into the side of the patrol vehicle.

Anthony Allison, 25, of Lake Tahoe, was arrested on suspicion of felony eluding police, third-offense driving under the influence of drugs, driving without a license, unregistered vehicle, speeding, fictitious plates, possession of marijuana, failure to stop on signal of police officer, and battery with deadly weapon.

Acosta recovered from the Toyota a police scanner, a list of police scanner frequencies for the region and a note written on one of several maps that read: "Clean the Kitchen. Clean the Living Room. Clean the Room. Relax!"

Also in the vehicle was a large, friendly black dog with a collar that read "Buddy Love," said animal control officer Pat Wiggins. Wiggins said the dog appeared to be unharmed. Animal Control will attempt to locate a relative to retrieve the animal.

Surratt's K9 partner Arie was also unharmed, but both Surratt and the dog were checked out by doctors.

In addition to the license plates being illegal, the ignition was punched out, said Acosta.

Allison, a 2003 graduate of Dayton High School, lists his occupation as U.S. Forest Service firefighter and snowboard instructor.
