Charles Edward Hendrickson passed from this life at the age of 78 on April 19, 2010 in Reno, where he had been hospitalized for the last three weeks.
Charles was born on Jan. 30, 1932 in Holdrege, Neb., son of Leslie and Caroline Edith (Hoppe) Hendrickson.
He had been residing in Gardnerville for the last 12 years with his wife, Minnie.
Upon graduation from high school in Holdrege, he joined the Unites States Air Force and served his country for 10 years in the military police. While he was in the Air Force much of his time was spent at Stead Air Force Base, where he worked closely with the Reno Police. When he was discharged from the Air Force he immediately went to work for the Reno Police Department in the patrol department and soon after moved to the traffic department where he spent the next 20 years, retiring in May, 1984.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Pauline Olsen and Joan Anderson; and son Dennis Keith Hendrickson.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie (Hansen) Hendrickson; son, Robert of Reno with grandchildren Amy, Luke and Zach, a great-grandson, Conner Whitney; son Michael (Ramona) of West Jordan, Utah, with grandchildren Christopher, Michelle (Tyler) Evison, Nathan, Diana and Daniel; and a daughter, Teresa (Rob) Rose of Gardnerville, Nev., with grandchildren Laura and Alli. Also surviving him is sister Lois (Bud) Ericson of Holdrege and seven nieces and nephews.
A memorial of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 23 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at Spruce and Desert in Minden, Nev. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
