The Carson City freeway is shut down in both directions due to a number of ice-related accidents between the Arrowhead Drive and College Parkway, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Department.

"It's just a mess up there right now," said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Sgt. Jim Primka said there was a rollover accident and a three-car accident.

"We have very very low visibilty, at some points zero visbility up here," said Primka. "Deputies have been dodging cars that begin to slide and almost run into our patrol vehicles."

The entire length of the freeway has been shut down from Lakeview Hill to Fairview Drive. Motorists should find an alternate route.
