More than 500 youth ballplayers converged on Governors Field Saturday for Carson City Little League's official Opening Day ceremonies.
"Everybody is having fun," first-year president Paul Pettersen. "The weather cooperated. You couldn't ask for a better opening opening day."
Besides the ceremonies, there were several games played and team pictures also were taken.
Among the special guests were Pete Livermore, representing the Board of Supervisors and the Youth Sports Organization; Rick Parr, the general manager of the Reno Aces; Rev. Larry Schneider, who delivered the invocation; Sunni Tierney, the national anthem singer; and the Foster brothers, Ryan and Regan.
Ryan Foster, the son of the late Jack Foster, threw out the first ceremonial first pitch. Parr threw out the second ceremonial pitch. Regan Foster was selected to read the Little League pledge.
The Foster family, according to Petersen, were big supporters of Little League baseball.
