The Dayton Food Pantry hosts a Meet Your Neighbor yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at its new location, No. 4 Enterprise Way, to raise money to support operations of its new location, said Director Freida Carbury.

The food pantry moved to a temporary location last weekend.

Formerly housed at Dayton Community Center, the pantry provides food for more than 260 families each month, and numbers keep rising, Carbury said.

The increased demand has left a financial shortfall for the remaining fiscal year, which ends in July.

"Until then, we're relying on cash and food donations to feed those in need," Carbury said, adding that even with the new fiscal year, budget numbers are uncertain.

"It is our goal to be as independent as possible, so that no matter what happens with budget cuts, we continue to support our mission statement, which is 'Freely We Share,'" she said.

Donations for the yard sale will be accepted through early Saturday morning, and cash and food donations are always appreciated, Carbury said.

Donations of goods and food can be made Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to

5 p.m. Cash donations can be made in person or by mailing checks to Dayton Food Pantry, P.O. Box 517, Dayton, NV 89403.
