Bill Fehr, a full time volunteer with the Dayton Food Pantry, is excited about the big Fall Yard Sale that Dayton Food Pantry is hosting.

"We have everything you can think of: lots of furniture, exercise equipment, children's toys, clothes of all sizes, Christmas decorations, cribs and bassinets. We even have a wet suit."

Get an early start on Christmas shopping at the sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Dayton Food Pantry,

4 Enterprise Way and the corner of Highway 50.

The yard sale is a benefit for the Food Pantry, which has seen a vast increase in need over the last year due to the economy. Lyon County's unemployment rate has been hovering around 20 percent.

The community of Dayton is working hard to keep the pantry going, with many local volunteers adding their skills and talents to running the facility, and nonprofits, schools, area businesses and clubs, county services, and Northern Nevada Food Bank all working together toward meeting the increased need.

Donations will be accepted through Oct. 22 for the event. Drop off your donations at the food pantry between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
