LAS VEGAS (AP) - The Clark County coroner says former Nevada Gov. Kenny Guinn's death was caused by injuries he received in a fall from the roof of his Las Vegas home.

Coroner Mike Murphy said Monday that he ruled Guinn's July 22 death an accident after medical examiners determined the fall caused the 73-year-old Guinn's death, not a medical event preceding the fall.

Guinn died at University Medical Center after his wife, Dema, found him on the ground near where he had been making repairs on the roof of their ranch-style house.

Murphy says Guinn died of chest and head injuries.

Guinn was a two-term moderate Republican who served from 1999 to 2007. He was school superintendent in Las Vegas and a millionaire bank chairman before he was elected.
