DENIM DISTRIBUTION EVENT

Marie Baxter is simply an amazing women. She spearheads a denim drive like no other on the West Coast. Not only does Reno have the biggest rodeo in the West we also have the biggest hearts out there helping abused and neglected children, thanks to each and every member of the Reno Rodeo Foundation. They go beyond the boundaries of just Reno. There is no geographic line when it comes to children in need. If you are a licensed Foster parent, please take the time to attend this event and receive underwear, sock and denim jeans. There will also be infant and toddler items. The giveaway is first-come, first-serviced and you must bring custody letters for the foster children in your home. This event is solely to assist children in Foster Care placement. COW COUNTY BALL FUNDRAISER

Nevada Supreme Court Chief Justice Ron Parraguirre and Volunteer Attorneys for Rural Nevadans (VARN) will host the Cow County Ball. Hmmm, what is a The Cow County Ball? Glad you asked. It's where Gourmet Cowboy serves up some authentic chuck wagon grub, followed by dancing to the country rock music of Rick Hays & American Steel, at the beautiful historic Corley Ranch in Gardnerville. There will be lots of nice raffle prizes and some great silent auction items, including ski, golf, and hotel packages. So grab your boots to help support VARN, a tax-exempt non-profit organization, and its Domestic Violence Victim's Assistance Project. I am a big fan of VARN. They recently helped a young lady see an entirely new future. Thank you!

BORDERS BENEFIT DAYS FOR AUSTIN HOUSE

I am one of those people who can spend hours shopping at the Borders Book Store on Topsy Lane, so this fundraiser will be easy for me. However, if you are short on time but still want to help support Austin's House, they have a promo code to go on line and order too. Austin's House is the only emergency children's shelter in Rural Northern Nevada. When a child is removed due to abuse or neglect and there is nowhere to go, Austin's House provides a safe shelter. Since opening in 2007, the shelter has provided a safe haven for 140 children. With your support in purchasing a book or two, they can continue to help keep children in a nurturing home environment.
