Beginning Dutch Oven cooking offered

If you have ever wanted to learn how to prepare main dishes and desserts using a Dutch oven, now is your chance. Nevada State Parks rangers will help participants experience this delicious way of preparing meals using cast iron pots.

The outdoor workshop will be from 4:30-8 p.m. Aug. 28. Participants and tasters will meet at the large group-use area at Washoe Lake State Park. The park is located off Highway 395 on East Lake Boulevard on the southeast corner of Washoe Lake.

The public is invited to learn how to cook using a Dutch oven. All food will be provided. Participants are asked to bring their own drinks.

There is no charge for this program. There is a $7 per vehicle entrance fee and Nevada residents receive a $2 discount.

The cooking event is limited to 35 participants, so call 687-4319 to reserve a space.
