Salon returns to site after fire

After a fire forced them out of their location in March, the hair stylists at High Desert Hair, 445 Fairview Dr., are back in business.

Since the fire, the stylists have been cutting hair at Mane Connections on California Street. And after four months of repairing the smoke and water damage, they reopened their original location on Tuesday.

Co-owner Linda Beaty, who helped open High Desert Hair in December 2009, said the business now has a front counter and new furniture, but all of the same stylists.

"Thank God for insurance," Beaty said.

The building also includes Mattress King, which is in the process of repairing its space. Its owners say the business will reopen soon.
