The Nevada Highway Patrol will be conducting a DUI checkpoint in Silver Springs this weekend, an official said Thursday.

According to Trooper Chuck Allen, motorists will see increased patrols and DUI checkpoints around the state in anticipation of the Labor Day holiday weekend.

One checkpoint is scheduled for Saturday in Silver Springs near the entrance to Lake Lahontan State Park and the other is planned in Washoe County.

Motorist who observe a suspected impaired or drunken driver may report it by dialing *NHP (*647) from any cell phone.

Allen also reminds motorists that traffic in the Reno-Sparks-Fernley area on the Interstate 80 corridor, as well as on State Route 447 north of I-80 between Wadsworth and Gerlach, will be especially heavy due to Burning Man, which will take place on the Black Rock Desert, Aug. 30 - Sept. 6.
