Carson City's Tree House Pilates announced this week it is opening Key to Longevity, a fitness and yoga studio, on Monday.

The studio, 343 Fairview Drive, is owned by Robert Marquis. It will stage a grand opening Dec. 12-14.

Marquis said the studio will invite guest instructors, including Anael Sawyer, Bonnie Lafave, Becky Sor, Steve Yochum and Mary Bartnikowski, who specialized in Kundalini Yoga.

The studio is located in the former Kula, Kula, Kula Yoga Studio.

NEW sushi place

Carson City's newest sushi restaurant, Kei Sushi, is expected to open in January in the same shopping center as the Dairy Queen on Highway 50 E. It's owned by Silvya De La Rosa.

Genghix Asian Fusion, 1480 N. Carson St., also has started to offer all-you-can-eat sushi.

Other sushi shops in the capital include Kim Lee's Sushi, 319 N. Carson St., National's Cafe, 1701 N. Carson St., and Lily's China Bistro, 1280 S. Carson St.

Sierra Sewing

Carson City's Sierra Sewing Center moved to the Topsy Lane shopping center, 911, Topsy Lane Suite 222. Its former location, 1000 N. Carson St., is now empty.

Owner Linda Lasko said the 20-year-old company, which is based in Reno, came to the capital 10 years ago and had been at its location on North Carson Street for five years.

"We wanted to get to a more active part of town," she said.

A belated good-bye

Carson City said good-bye to Rigoberto's Taco Shop, 359 Hwy. 50 E., earlier this fall. It opened in the spring of 2009, according to its business license filing.

Also, nearby the Carson Oak Outlet, 2270 Hwy. 50 E., has closed its doors after staging a "quitting business" sale last month. Owner Mike Lavin said he decided to retire from his 23-year-old business in the wake of the Sak 'N Save closure and struggling economy.
