Share your holiday Food Drive

I am praying for a beautiful day on Friday since I will be out from noon-2 p.m. collecting food for the annual Share Your Holidays Food Drive. The cycle of domestic abuse can be more then difficult to pull yourself out of. Without the assistance from Advocates to End Domestic Violence, the choice of a different life can be impossible. So please swing by and drop off a few items and truly know you'll be helping save another's life.

WHO: Advocates to End Domestic Violence Food Drive

WHAT: Donations of can goods, dry goods, detergents, paper products, and/or cash

WHEN: 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday

WHERE: Governor's Mansion, including a drive up and drop off. So all of you can stay warm in your cars and volunteers will be there to get your donations.

Reno Rodeo Denim Drive Update

The Reno Rodeo Foundation, in partnership with KOLO 8 News, is conducting a multi-county "Denim Rally" in Carson, Gardnerville and Fernley. This great program helps local children in each area. Whatever you donate stays in the area.

Your donations help local children placed in foster care. There are also local merchants in all the rural areas accepting donations from now to Dec. 18. You can find them on the website listed below.

WHO: Reno Rodeo Foundation Denim Drive

WHAT: New denim jeans, underwear and socks for all ages and sizes. Local volunteers are needed at each location to accept donations. Carson, JCPenney, Gardnerville and Fernley, Scolari's Grocery stores

WHEN: 5-7 p.m. Dec. 15

WHERE: Carson drop-offs: AAA Nevada, Boot Barn, Carson Lanes Retail Center, Casino Fandango, Home Health Services of Nevada, It's a Girl Thang, Benson Feed and JCPenney.

The Arlington Square Ice Rink

The Downtown Carson City Ice Rink is back and up and running on Carson Street across from the Carson Nugget Casino in the parking lot. If you have a birthday party coming up for your child, guests coming from California or a family outing, take them out to the festive and fun ice rink. The price is right and there is a heated pavilion and hot chocolate to keep you smiling.

WHAT: Skating fun for all ages

WHEN: 3-5 p.m., 6-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 3-5 p.m., 6-9 p.m., 9-11 p.m. (adult skate) Friday; 1-4 p.m., 5-8 p.m., 9-11 p.m. (adult skate) Saturday; and 1-4 p.m., 5-9 p.m. Sunday

WHERE: Across from Carson Nugget at the corner of Robinson and Curry streets

COST: $7 general admission (ages 13-up); $5 youth (ages 3-12); skate rental $3
