Participants made tree lighting memorable

The Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting was a huge success thanks to everyone that participated, and a special thanks for the city closing the street. It added to the ambiance of an "Old Fashioned Christmas."

The evening was made possible by the following agencies, businesses and the community working together: The Arlington Group and Hoofbeats with the Beautiful Horse and Carriage and Mr. and Mrs. Santa; the carolers, the Nugget; Nevada Appeal; Chamber of Commerce; DBA; Redevelopment Authority; and the city for the lights, power on Telegraph Street, Skating Rink and especially for closing the main street.

For all the merchants and vendors who donated their time, kept their stores open, decorated their shops and vendor booths, served refreshments, specialty foods and offered entertainment, the cooperation and all of their work was very much appreciated. A special thanks to YOU, the community that made it all worth while. In inclement weather you came out and supported all the merchants and vendors and participated in the events to make this a most wonderful and memorable evening.

God bless and merry Christmas to all.

Walk-a-thon funds to help students at school

Pinon Hills Elementary School staff, students, and Parent Teacher Organization would like to thank all the generous businesses and families for helping to make our first Walk-A-Thon such an enormous success. With the student's hard work getting sponsors and the generosity of our wonderful community members and businesses, we were able to raise over $30,000. All that money will stay at PHES to be used to purchase items and equipment for the students and school. What a wonderful reminder of how much this community values education for our children.

Special thanks go out to: $99 Guitars, All About Dance, Big 5 Sporting Goods, Bouncerz, Build-A-Bear Workshop, Carson ATA Karate for Kids, Carson Dodge Chrysler Jeep, Carson Valley Glass, Carson Valley Swim Center, Carson Valley Trails Association, Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital, Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, Dance Workshop, D'Ascoli Orthodontics, Doppelgangers (Minden), Dr. Eric Park, DDS, Edward Jones (Gardnerville), Ellen Lucas, Fabric Chicks Creative Oasis, Healthy Bodies by Fisher, In-N-Out Burger, Ironwood Cinema, Jodi Petterson, JM Furniture, Line Drive University, Make It Yours!
