Motorcycle run for children's home
Eagle Valley Children's Home 5th annual Christmas Wish Run will start at
11 a.m. Sunday at Carson Harley-Davidson, 2900 Research Way.
The event includes food, music and raffles, and is sponsored by local motorcycle clubs.
To participate, bring a $10 donation per person for the residents at Eagle Valley Children's Home who have special needs. Do not bring toys.

Enjoy a cup for a cause today
Dutch Bros. continues its tradition of the past four years this season by donating to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada.
From 5 a.m.-11 p.m. today, customer donations will be matched by an anonymous donor who has pledged up to $50,000 for funds raised by the end of the year.
Buck for Kids Day means that for every cup Dutch Bros. Carson City sells, $1 will be donated to the club and matched by the anonymous donor.
Dutch Bros. is located in the Carson Mall parking lot.
Free legal clinic offered Wednesday
Nevada Legal Services, Inc., will sponsor a free forms completion legal clinic 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday at their office, 216 N. Pratt Ave., Carson City.
The clinic is for people who need assistance in completing forms and/or are filing without legal representation.

Carson City officials to be sworn in Jan. 3
The swearing-in ceremony for Carson City officials will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 3 in Department 1 of the First Judicial District Court.
Mayor Bob Crowell will preside and District Court Judge James T. Russell will administer the oath of office to Assessor Dave Dawley, Clerk/Recorder Alan Glover, District Attorney Neil Rombardo, Sheriff Ken Furlong, Treasurer Al Kramer and Ward 3 Supervisor John McKenna.
District Court Judge James E. Wilson Jr., will administer the oath to newly elected Supervisor Ward 1 Karen Abowd, and school trustees Ron Swirczek, Stacie Wilke-McCulloch, Lynette Conrad and Barbara Myers.
The mayor will present certificates of election.
Book signing set for Carson City writer
Writer Mary Randall will sign copies of her self-published book, "A Walk Through the Woods," from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Borders Book Store, 911 Topsy Lane, Suite 102 in north Douglas County.
Randall describes the book as an "awesome adventure story" featuring talking animals, adrenaline pumping action and ghosts of the Civil War.
