Two females in Candela-ria have matched to wrestle for $200 a side. Wells Drury, the eminent historian, has been chosen referee. It costs Virginia City $120 a month to keep a Street Inspector to look after three men who occasionally put in an hour or so on C Street. Last month $50 was paid out for work and $120 for inspecting it.

100 YEARS AGO

Wants Guns for Ornam-ents: Some time ago the government ordered the old ordinance used by the National Guard returned to the departments, part of it going to the Presidio and the balance to posts in the east. Governor Dickerson has written Senator Newlands to see if it is possible to get old pieces of fighting machinery as ornaments in a public park at the Capitol in this city.

70 YEARS AGO

The highway commission of California and Nevada signed a contract which the Nevada department will keep certain roads clear of snow this winter. California will pay Nevada for road clearing through Camp Richardson and from South Tahoe to Meyers Station.

50 YEARS AGO

Forestry officials previewed a 26-minute film, "Operation Hangerdoor" for plane operations for state officials.

20 YEARS AGO

Nevada lawbreakers will find no shortage of space when the second phase of Nevada's maximum security prison in Ely opens for business early next year.
