Two Carson City women were arrested Sunday night after allegedly stealing $450 in clothes from the South Reno Kohl's and making their way back to Carson.

Anne Marie Riley, 23, of Carson City, was booked into the Washoe County Jail on suspicion of felony burglary and grand larceny.

Ashley Dawn Popham, 21, was booked into the Washoe County Jail on suspicion of misdemeanor probation violation, felony burglary and grand larceny.

According to a Carson City Sheriff's Office report, Reno Police notified Carson City that a PT Cruiser registered to an address on Valley View Drive in Carson City was involved in a theft from the Kohl's on South Virginia Street about 6:30 p.m.

Carson City deputies stopped the vehicle at Silver Sage and Springview drives and found Popham and Riley inside with a male passenger.

In plain view on the rear passenger seat was a stack of folded pants and shirts, the report states. Popham and Riley were wearing clothing that matched the description of the shoplifters.

Carson City deputies arrested the two women who allegedly admitted they went into Kohl's to steal because it was the holiday season and they had no money.

The two were then taken to Kohl's in South Reno and turned over to the custody of Reno Police.
