Sandoval appoints two directors

Gov.-elect Brian Sandoval has named two more directors for his administration.

Stacey Crowley has been named head of the energy office. Owner of Stacey Crowley Consulting, she has a masters of architecture from the University of New Mexico and is accredited in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards.

Sandoval said her 14 years experience in everything from architecture and planning to research and advocacy will being a "fresh perspective to this important job."

Sandoval also named interim director Leo Drozdoff as director of Conservation and Natural Resources.

He previously served as head of the state Division of Environmental Protection, Bureau Chief of Mining Regulation and Reclamation and as deputy administrator of water programs within the Division of Environmental Protection.

Secretary of State expands online services

The Secretary of State's Office has further expanded its online services for businesses, allowing new firms to file articles of incorporation and articles of organization through the Internet.

The system allows companies to get immediate confirmation of the filing and copies of their new documents.

The system will also make information about the new business available immediately on the secretary of state's website.

All new corporations and limited liability companies can also file their initial listof officers or members and apply for and receive their annual business licenses. A spokesman said all fees will remain the same.

Dayton Food Pantry announces food distribution

Commodities food will be distributed Thursday from noon-5 p.m. at the Dayton Community Center, 170 Pike St. in Old Town Dayton.

Other dates include:

• Jan. 22 from noon-4 p.m. at Sutro Elementary School, 190 Dayton Village Parkway.

• Feb. 19 from noon-4 p.m., Sutro Elementary School, 190 Dayton Village Parkway.

• March 19 from noon until 4 p.m. Sutro Elementary School, 190 Dayton Village Parkway.

The Dayton Food Pantry is located at 4 Enterprise Way and Highway 50. Hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. For more information, call 775-246-7834.

Reporting health care fraud

Are you a senior who'd like to know more about health care fraud, especially how to recognize it and how to report it?

The Nevada Senior Medicare Patrol will conduct a training session for SMP volunteers at the Carson City Attorney General's Office on Friday.
