Yerington High volleyball standout Makenna Lommori has been named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Nevada.

The 5-10 Lommori, who sets and is a right-side hitter for the Lions, recorded 433 assists, 410 kills, 209 digs and 91 service aces.

Lommori also gets it done in the classroom, too. She holds a 3.82 GPA, and is active in student government at yerington. She also volunteers locally with youth volleyball camps.

"She's an awesome player with a very high volleyball IQ," Whittell coach nate Byrne said in a released statement. "She's smart with the ball and makes good decisions. Everything runs through her on that team."

Lommori is the first Gatorade winner to be selected from Yerington High School.
