A Carson City man was jailed Tuesday, suspected of stealing money from the restaurant he had worked at for 13 years.
Isidro "Angel" Vazquez, 42, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony embezzlement and possession of stolen property.
According to the arrest report, Vazquez's boss at Glen Eagles installed a hidden camera in an area where a cash box was held after money started disappearing on Dec. 5. She also wrote down the serial numbers of the bills in the cash box, the report states.
Surveillance video allegedly captured Vazquez, a cook, taking a total of $900 from the cash box in five instances.
When he arrived at work on Tuesday, a deputy was on hand while the general manager told Vazquez he was fired. Vazquez also lives in a home owned by the restaurant owners.
Vazquez allegedly told his boss he had taken the money to pay bills.
Four $100 bills were recovered from Vazquez's pants pocket with serial numbers matching the ones recorded. An additional $1,725 found on him was left with him and booked into safekeeping upon his arrest.
Bail was set at $25,000.
