130 YEARS AGO

(Continued from Thursday) The Death of Major Ormsby: The Indian who struck the first wound described his death. He was going up the slope from the Truckee River on horseback when the girth broke and he slipped off behind the horse. This after the stampede began, seven miles from the original battleground. Recognizing the Indian, Ormsby called out to talk. The Indian said, "Too late to talk now," and sent an arrow through his body (continued Saturday).

100 YEARS AGO

There was a young lady named Florence, who pretended for men an abhorrence. But one stayed away, for a week and a day, and her weeping came simply in torrents.

70 YEARS AGO

"How Can We Form The Right Friendship?" was the topic led by Ruth Bath at the monthly meeting of La Sool Club. In attendance was Jackie Ross, Mary Schultz, Claire O'Shaughnessy and Theresa Supera. Refreshments included Christmas Cookies, dainty sandwiches and punch.

The 1960 Lollipop Lane parade is scheduled for the South Shore of lake Tahoe.
