Gov.-elect Brian Sandoval announced Tuesday he will name Bruce Breslow director of the Department of Motor Vehicles.
"For many Nevadans, the DMV is the public face of state government and I believe Bruce has the know-how and entrepreneurial spirit to make a real difference at this agency," said Sandoval.
Breslow is currently head of the Nevada Agency for Nuclear Projects but, before that, was a commissioner and administrative law judge for the state's Transportation Services Agency.
He began his professional career as a sports reporter and later editor at KOLO-TV Channel 8 before moving into politics by running for and winning the mayor's office in Sparks. In that position, he led the drive to turn the old Helms gravel pit along the eastern border of that city into a marina.
He also has served as chairman of the state's Employee Management Committee and as chairman of the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority.
Breslow will replace Edgar Roberts who was appointed by Gov. Jim Gibbons after Ginny Lewis retired from the post three years ago.
