City engineer arrested on suspicion of DUI

City engineer Jeff Sharp was jailed early Thursday on suspicion of drunken driving.

According to the arrest report, Sharp, 43, was "traveling above the posted speed limit" south on Carson Street at 11:39 p.m.

Sharp's vehicle was allegedly clocked at 35 mph in a 25 mph zone for a third of a mile.

According to the report when the officer made the traffic stop Sharp had red watery eyes and a noticeable odor of alcohol about him.

A preliminary breath test at the scene allegedly indicated his blood-alcohol content at .09. The legal limit

is .08.

Sharp was jailed on suspicion of drunken driving and speeding. According to the arrest report, Sharp opted for a blood draw at the jail.

He could not be reached for comment.
