Clyde Collins was born near Holland, Mo., on January 31, 1931, and passed away in Las Vegas January 23, 2010. He graduated from Holland High School in 1951 and lived in the area until drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953. After being released from Active duty in 1955, he lived in Kansas City for a short time before moving west, first to Phoenix, then Reno, then on to Carson City, his home since 1960. Clyde was a butcher by trade, but spent his leisure time and retirement restoring classic automobiles. He was considered a master mechanic and body man his peers.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Gladys F. Collins; a son James; a brother John; and an older sister Jodie Groeber. He is survived by his children Greg, Ginger, and Karen, their spouses; two granddaughters Alexandra and Stephanie; a daughter-in-law; brother Ken and his wife Janus, and a niece.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Parkinson's or Diabetes Foundation. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Feb. 5 at Walton's Chapel of the Valley, 1281 N. Roop Street, Carson City. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Feb. 6.
