LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities say a 70-year-old Washington state man was freed on $6,000 bail pending arraignment on felony charges after his speeding vehicle crashed into a Nevada casino, killing two people and injuring seven.
A Laughlin Justice Court clerk said Thursday that Walter McGie of Kelso, Wash., is due for arraignment March 11 on two charges of reckless driving causing death. Each charge carries a possible sentence of one to six years in state prison.
A bail bondsman says McGie was freed late Wednesday from jail in the resort town of Laughlin, about 100 miles south of Las Vegas.
McGie told investigators he fainted before his 2007 Pontiac Vibe crashed into the Edgewater Hotel & Casino about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Laughlin. He suffered minor injuries.
