Thanks to volunteers

I would like to extend my Cheers & Kudos to those volunteers who, through their donation of the use of their artificial trees and/or their help transformed the cavernous State Library & Archives lobby into the Tavern on the Green-like New York winter wonderland that it became for the Carson City Library Foundation's New York New Year's Eve Party.

I would also like to thank those who helped make the party run so smoothly. These wonderful volunteers are: Susan Antipa, Bill Baughman, Jan Baughman, Lynn and Ralph Capurro, Bill Crowell, Maxine Cotton, David, Maryann Elorreaga, Frieda and Ozzie Ford, Ward Fitch, Helen Glen, Pat Glick, Dana Hines, Tom Jones, Sara Jones and her daughter Elaine, Susan Juetten, Mary Lambert, Marilyn Lewis, Andi and Gary Moore, Janet and Jon Nowlin, Andrew Palmer, Phil Patton, Kerstin Plemel and her daughter Shelly, Ken Schar, Drew Simmons, Amanda Slabaugh and Peter Smith.

Most of all I would like to thank the members of the community who responded so positively to the idea of having an early part on New Year's Eve. Thank you and I hope we see all of you next year.

Heartfelt thanks for memorial service

I want the residents of the Carson Valley to know they are protected by the caring and capable hands of the fine men and women of the East Fork Fire District.

East Fork Fire District arranged a beautiful memorial service for my beloved, Jim Perry, retired LAFD.

They worked along side LAFD to honor their fallen brother. My family and I were treated with respect and loving care. Words will never express our heartfelt thanks to

Battelion Chief Scott Frazier, Captain Tracey Connelly, Captain Ron Santos, Captain Jeff Costa, Captain Troy Vallenzuela, Captain John Bellona, Jeremy Hall, Walt Kestloot, Paul Azevedo, Sky Dwinell and so many more.

The fire family is truly that "A Family".

Forever grateful,

Perry/Coleman Family

Thanks for senior gifts

Dear Soroptimists:

On behalf of the Carson City Senior Citizens Center and our meals-on-wheels recipients, I wish to express my sincere gratitude for your donation of cash and personal hygiene items. Your cash donation resulted in the purchase of gifts for 36 needy and homebound senior citizens. Of particular note was the heater that was purchased for a lady who had no heat and no money to replace it. Thanks to your donation, she received a new heater and beautiful quilted blanket that provided both comfort and heat to an otherwise potentially dangerous circumstance. All the gifts purchased were primarily of a health, warmth, and comfort nature per your wishes, and were delivered by "elves" from a local state agency prior to Christmas. We have received many phone calls from our homebound seniors over the past week expressing their delight with the gifts and were truly pleased with the unexpected attention. Many of those who received the gifts lack family attention and your gift was particularly special for them. Soroptimist International of Carson City brought a lot of joy into the homes of Carson City's homebound again this year.

Again, thank you so much for your support.

Sincerely

Charles Daniels
